I am Mumbai and my soul is torn apart.My heart is bleeding..i took gunshots on my chest for 59 hours continuously.i have lost five of my brave children who died protecting me and 200 innocent children with no fault of theirs.

Three years earlier my local trains were blasted, and i thought i will never have to bear such attack in future.But i was wrong.

But here came the next attack which was much more magnanimous in nature.

A few attackers came shooting indiscriminately on me..

My dear ones have died and all who survived are mourning for those lost.Those who were fortunate not to face this attack are feeling unsafe, insecured, threatened..they are not willing to come out of their homes.

What should I do..I feel so helpless..how to console them..how to bring the strength in them.

When i am feeling insecured , how would i bring the confidence in them.

From long i have been hearing the government say they have taken a strong pledge to fight against terrorism.

But their resolution is not showing..Will they wake up only when i would have perished..

There is a friend of mine,America.She also faced such an attack back in 2002.But till date there has not been any other attack even of slightest severity which she had to face.

Why can’t i have that kind of fate.Why can’t policymakers here make such stringent laws that no one dares to even plan any attack.

It is shocking that a sports event which includes over 1,300 athletes from 71 countries and which is being held for the first time in Asia is going unnoticed by our mainstream media.

It is an irony that India as a country gets a Olympic medal, the media criticises the government and authorities for its sheer neglect. But now when it has the responsibility to cover this mega sports event and thus, promote sports like athletics, badminton, boxing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, tennis, weight-lifting and wrestling, it is sitting back and counting its TRPs (Television Rating Points).

In the 2004 floods donations meant for flood-affected people was misused by a few politicians for their own good. So huge was the money manipulation that it became a multi-crore flood relief scam. Whenever there is a natural disaster of this enormity, there is always a lot of cash flow and so there are full chances of corruption. Transparency is the need of the hour.

Giving details of the relief work and the transaction done during the relief management would not only win government trust of the citizens but make the Bihar Government more credible in the eyes of public. In fact, it would encourage the people who are not sure of where their money will go, to contribute to the cause of humanity.

As of now it remains to be seen whether the money donated for Bihar reaches marooned flood victims.

A flood of this magnitude has occurred in Bihar after 50 years. More than 1.5 million people have been displaced by the floods, nearly 1.25 lakh people marooned in the flood-hit districts of Bihar have been evacuated, and at least 57 people have died in the floods.

The flood has been caused by a breach of Kosi River on its embankments.
Kosi, known to the world, as the sorrow of Bihar is a fast flowing river that collects water from mountains in Nepal and flows down into the plains, causing dangerous floods due to its perpetually shifting course. Due to its rapid flow it causes tremendous erosion and carries nearly 81 million tons of silt every year. This silt gets deposited around the river causing it to continuously shift its course.

Due to the heavy silt load, the river has been exerting pressure on its eastern side for the past 20 years. The bund-strengthening work has to be done every year to keep the river in check. Because of the failure of the authorities responsible for this maintenance work,Bihar is facing the wrath of Kosi. As a result the villages that had not seen such deluge for long, like Madhepura, Seharsa, Supaul, Araria have been swamped.

The blame game has begun between Nepali and Indian officials for failing to carry out necessary repair and maintenance of the dam under an agreement between the two countries.

Almost every year Bihar gets flooded, but what is amazing is the politician’s neglect towards this frequent problem of Bihar. How could authorities ignore the repair and maintenance work on the embankment of the river Kosi which has been known to them as River of Sorrow? And why couldn’t be a permanent solution be found out to protect Bihar from wrath of Kosi River. Why it is only when the river has unleashed its terror on the poor people, government starts to react. That is when huge relief aid would be asked and massive evacuation would start. Are they not aware that prevention is better than cure?

At this time, the mention of the multi-crore flood scam which followed after the flood in 2004 can’t be missed. It was astounding to note that the relief package meant for the poor of this already poor region was being misused by a few politicians with their ulterior motives. Such incident not only make the people loose their trust on authorities but also discourage the relief organizations who don’t want to risk their involvement.
